I think the main problem people ignore is that marriage is no longer just a religious act. Some say your okay with gay couples but not with Gay marriage, I imagine this is cause you want to keep marriage pure to your religion which I do understand just not agree with since as I stated marriage is no longer just a religious act.

For example if a couple is not married but together for say ten years. If one is hurt and hospitalized the other would not be able to visit because the partner is not family (this applies to both straight and gay couples). That example might just be relevant to USA I'm not sure to be honest. There are many other example's I could use I'm just to lazy to look them all up right now.

But it still helps further my point, Gay couple's should have the same rights as any straight couple. If marriage was purely a religious act, only a way to show your devotion to God then it would be different.

It doesn't matter what marriage was. It matters what marriage is now.

what Jaxill said is very important to help many of u think about the marriage in a different way and not like part of the religion but more on the legal side.
this because, malu, theres not only the religious marriage where u get married in church and where u need sacraments and such, but there is also civil marriage where u dont need that and u dont have to believe in any god because theres also people that dont believe in god u know. but they do love each other so why they cant get married? there are some things that couples cant do if they arent married (just like Jax explained) and some of those things are indispensable in a couple's life. so this people want just to sign that contract for their rights.
every person on this world should have the same rights...right?

How can you NOT bring religion into this...
It's almost ALL about religion...

Isn't marriage fully based on/Doesn't the concept of marriage come from religion anyway?
Correct me if I'm wrong~

Like I said, it's more of a social/political thing because most of the conflict about it has to do with whether or not it's allowed by law, not a church. There are also plenty of atheists with interest in getting married anyway.

if i have to say in my opinion that is causing the gay marriage struggle is the religion of north america which is mostly christian so they will mostly be biased 2nd is that everyone that is in north america is judging with their religion and they are also biased and the next thing on my opinion is that humanity definitely hate when somebody is different from them

But there are other countries in North America that aren't the United States. Canada and Mexico both allow gay marriage.

sadly the united state is pretty much based on the christian religion like some of the things in a show will be taken out if they had any bad thing with some of the christian words so now the united states will most likely based it opinion with it religion

The United States is not based on the Christian religion. There may be some politicians who mistakenly believe that, but America is not Christian. America was made to be a country of religious freedom, and though our constitution and other early documents may express Christian ideals, they also express the ideals of many other religions, and a lot of our laws aren't even based in religion in the first place. America's system of government is actually most similar to those used by the Greeks. Christians traditionally had theocracies at the time and before then.

People make gay rights such a big deal.. Just let gay people be happy and live there life. but this is america O____________________O since when does america not debate -_-

America thrives on debate and controversy. Our political system was built upon and thrives on them. If people didn't disagree on fundamental issues like this, no bills would ever get made into law.
