Just a friendly reminder that superhero movie season starts in a few months and isn't going to let up until at least 2014. Here's what's on the plate:
May 3: Iron Man 3
Avengers/Iron Man 2 sequel. It's based loosely on the Extremis story arc and stars the same cast from the previous films. The villain for the film is The Mandarin, the plot will have something to do with China, and there are rumors of Fin Fang Foom making some sort of appearance.

June 14: Man of Steel
Superman movie, directed by Zack Snyder, style is similar to the Dark Knight trilogy. But with Supes. The movie will apparently lead into a Justice League film. General Zod is the villain and no, there will be no "Kneel before Zod" line. It's going to get an IMAX release.

June 28: Kick-Ass 2: Balls to the Wall
Sequel to Kick-Ass. It's not based on the sequel comic, but instead simply continues where the previous film left off. No trailer yet and little has been revealed about the movie. It appears to be comparably low-key.

July 16: The Wolverine
Sniktbub stars in a movie. Again! It's a continuation of FOX's X-men franchise starring Hugh Jackman as Wolverine. Again. It's apparently based on a limited series from the character from 1982 by Chris Claremont and it involves the titular bub going to Japan.

November 8: Thor: The Dark World
Avengers/Thor sequel. The plot involves Thor having to fight the dark elves of Svartálfaheim, specifically, Malekith the Accursed. There are also rumors of Surtur showing up, as well as, oddly enough, Dr. Strange. Expect lots of fangirls to be at the theater when this is released. No trailers yet, but there are some production and promotional images. (Google it, this post is long enough)
April 4: Captain America: The Winter Soldier
Avengers/Captain America sequel. I'm relatively sure this is still in pre-production -- I haven't kept up with it too much. The story is going to involve Bucky becoming the Winter Soldier and Captain America working for S.H.I.E.L.D. There are no confirmed villains yet, but there have been strong hints of either Baron Zemo or Baron von Strucker.
May 2: The Amazing Spider-man 2
Currently casting the last time I checked. There's virtually nothing leaked about the plot yet, and the only thing really confirmed is that Jamie Foxx is playing Electro, and he'll presumably be the main villain.
July 18: X-men: Days of Future Past
Sequel to X-men: First Class. They're apparently starting a second trilogy with this as the second film. Not much is known yet other than the fact that Hugh Jackman will be Snitbub (again) and the cast will likely be the same as First Class, but Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen are both up to play Professor X and Magneto if they're asked. It may or may not have to do with the alternate universe storyline Days of Future Past.
August 1: The Guardians of the Galaxy
One of two original films coming out in phase 2 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. (as in, everything from Avengers to Avengers 2) It's based on the 2008 version of a spacebound superhero team known as the Guardians of the Galaxy. Thanos is likely to be the main villain, though there are rumors of Magus, arch-nemesis of Adam Warlock, being involved as well. Currently undergoing casting. Old Spice Guy is rumored to co-star as Drax the Destroyer and Joseph Gordon-Levitt just turned down the starring role of Star-Lord. The full team is not necessarily final, but can be seen in concept art. May or may not have to do with The Infinity Gauntlet.
May 1: Avengers 2
Avengers sequel. Virtually nothing seems to be finalized at this point in time other than a release date. Rumors are currently running around about what it might entail, and the biggest one is that it's going to be based on The Infinity Gauntlet, which was what immediately jumped to mind while I was watching the credits to The Avengers. There are also strong rumors of Ultron, which would tie into Ant-Man.
Undetermined Release Date- Ant-Man: Marvel movie, currently in pre-production with test footage made that hasn't been released to the general public.
- Marvel has also (kind of) announced Dr. Strange, The Inhumans and The Black Panther. Nothing is confirmed yet.
- Green Lantern 2: Scripts are currently being written. It will probably involve Sinestro.
- Justice League: In pre-production, and apparently due out during 2015, just in time to compete with The Avengers! Rumors around the internet cite the cast as Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, the Green Lantern, the Flash, Aquaman, and the Martian Manhunter, with Darkseid as the villain. Cue the biggest Marvel Vs DC war in history. The Green Lantern and Man of Steel Will tie in, but a new Batman trilogy will be started.
- Apparently, WB wants a new Batman movie by 2016. No other word on it, other than that it will tie into the Justice League film.
- Aquaman and Wonder Woman are apparently being made after The Justice League, with scripts currently in development.
- Fantastic Four: Currently in development over at FOX with Mark Millar as a creative consultant. It's going to be 60s style apparently, and I'm going to place my bets that it will suck almost as bad as the last two. Doctor Doom will be the villain, and while it's not confirmed, anyone who says otherwise is nuts.
- Daredevil: FOX had an epic reboot ready, but it was canned because the rights to the movie ran out. Marvel offered them an extension in exchange for the character rights to Galactus and the Silver Surfer (presumably for the Guardians of the Galaxy), but they declined and the rights reverted.
- Hellboy 3: Not technically a superhero, but close enough. Currently in development hell. No one apparently wants to fund a Hellboy 3, but Ron Pearlman sure wants to make another one. Maybe in the meantime we can get him to jump ship to Marvel and be our Thanos...
And that's pretty much everything. Almost everything. Holywood sure is milking comic books for all they're worth, aren't they? Marvel (and I mean the MCU films, not Spider-man and X-men) is still running strong with a massive fandom and positive reviews from critics and audience-goers alike and DC might be running up along side of them if Man of Steel is successful. The market may eventually become oversaturated with these continuity-heavy films, but it's a price I'm willing to pay if it means I get a movie about the Guardians of the Galaxy.
So, any thoughts on what's going on? Any new information for you guys here? What are you looking forward to? What are you not looking forward to? Comment below.

I'm looking forward to all of them, still want my Wally West and Mar-Vell movies though. Holy balls though, if that Justice League movie is as good as it could be, I will buy out the entire cinema just to see it.

As much as I want Mar-Vell in movie form, you have to acknowledge Marvel would be more likely to make a movie about Ms. Marvel first. Mar-Vell's rights could potentially be tangled because he's a Kree. You may have noticed that none of Marvel's major fictional races (Kree, Skrulls, and Shi'ar specifically) have made a movie appearance, and the Chitauri, their Ultimate-verse counterparts, were used instead for Avengers. That's because their rights are tangled up with Fox, as they own the rights to the Fantastic Four and X-men. The Kree and Skrulls were originally introduced in those comics and do often play a role in their conflicts. Likewise, the Shi'ar are heavily connected to the X-men, meaning folks like Gladiator are also probably out.
As of today, it looks like the Justice League movie may be postponed until 2016, meaning it won't be competing with Avengers 2. Also, Guardians of the Galaxy has just been announced to begin filming this summer.

News for comic book movies has been pretty dry for the past few weeks, but we did get an important update today.
The man in the middle of this picture, Chris Pratt, is confirmed to play the lead role of Star-Lord for Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy movie. If you're not familiar with him, Pratt was in the recent film Zero Dark Thirty as a U.S. Navy Seal. No other cast members have been confirmed. As a Guardians of the Galaxy fan, I wholeheartedly approve of this casting decision.
Additionally, you may have caught the Superbowl trailer for Iron Man 3. You may also have been disappointed that said trailer was only about thirty seconds long. Here's the extended trailer for your viewing pleasure.

Interestingly, Man of Steel was not advertised during the Superbowl, presumably due to the absurd cost of advertising during the Superbowl. Either way, to make up for it and ensure that this post is bipartisan, here's a look at Henry Cavil's portrayal of Superman on the cover of Empire magazine.

Is it just me or do Superhero Movies suck?
idk i was always dissapointed in the movies from the actual comics and cartoons.
Such as Superman, The Hulk and even Fantastic 4. Idk if Modern Technology is good enough to do the things we've seen in the comics and cartoons.
Well, its not that they suck, just not as good as they should be

Judging by the films in particular you've listed off (assuming you're talking about Superman Returns and not the original one with Christopher Reeve, in which case I don't think I can help you), I think it's just the matter of you never having seen a really good superhero movie. All of those movies, cut and dry, are pieces of crap. If you want to appreciate the sub-genre, I recommend watching some of the better films, like Iron Man, Spider-man 1 & 2, the Nolan Batman trilogy, and the recent Avengers movie.
The movies tend to be just as hit-or-miss as the cartoons or comics anyway. Marvel's animation department in particular has taken a sharp nosedive as of late now that Bendis and Loeb are getting their dirty little mits into it, (and everything else I hold dear; R.I.P. Guardians of the Galaxy and Nova) and Marvel NOW! and the New 52 have variable quality altogether. It's largely a matter of cherry-picking the good stuff to be honest.

I haven't really been a fan of the movies. Especially the way they feel the need to have to rap-up a story at the end. Even if it's not necessary. Or cut and patse loads of major events together to make it "action packed".
Now obviously, the premise of every story has a beginning middle and end. But that doesn't mean they have to butcher a perfectly good story to fit it into one film. In most comic's major events or tales of origins, there are usually stories within stories that can be done. One even could simply be spread along multiple movies.
If they insist on wanting a lot into a something small. The more logical way would be to talk with stan lee, Dan dio and Jim lee to make a new story for the movie, while still retaining the story of the character.
..... Aaaanyway! Back to topic.
I'm somewhat excited to see the new x-men film. Although, I really didn't like the others, I think this could potentially be pretty decent.
I also read this week that they are considering make a Planet Hulk story... To be honest I'm not sure what to think of it. I like the story and the animations was pretty decent but I find when big companies make massive cgi films, they tend to make a poor story and hope the effects pass it off. *sigh*
Or the big named actors they pick for the films have FAAAR to much input into their character and end up butchering it. Ghost Rider *Cough* Ghost Rider *Cough*

Eh, cutting and pasting things to make them work isn't necessarily a bad thing. It's a good way to link stories together if you ask me, though it can be a little irritating if done distastefully. I feel like thawing out Captain America, for instance, probably should have been done in The Avengers without any linking between them other than a post-credits scene, but hey, that's just me.

The thing with comic books is that they never do seem to have that "middle" and "end" part. Marvel's movies seem to be reflecting that to some degree, though they do bleed over films just a little too much in some places.

I'd rather not have any of those people involved in movies. Stan Lee in particular gets a lot of hype, and I enjoy a fair bit of his work, but he hasn't written much good stuff since the Silver Age, save a few Silver Surfer comics. In fact, I feel like getting comic books writers involved is a bad thing, considering that Brian Michael Bendis has been trying to get his fifteen minutes of fame with the Guardians of the Galaxy and seemingly getting ignored by the director at every possible point. (which we love him for, of course)

Not feeling it with the X-men myself, but that's probably due to my natural hatred of muties.

Planet Hulk is the only Hulk story I've had the patience to read from start to finish. It's a good story arc, but I question whether or not it will translate well to film. The previous two Hulk films just weren't hot stuff if you ask me.

I didn't watch the Ghost Rider films, but as a fan of Nicholas Cage, I'm not quite sure how to respond to this without feeling like a jerk. It's a shame he's never been in a really good movie, isn't it?
