Honestly, i would love to see an english release of the game. All the squiglies are preventing me from even making an account. A friend who plays sdgo with wasabii is helping me out (dont wanna start doing that myself, since i play NA server and dont wanna spoil the fun of unit releases)
The Dragonball saga is immensely popular here in the states and just mentioning it to my friends has elicited a huge reaction. I cant wait to start playing it myself, and as such will be burdened with the language barrier (a huge problem for me seeing as how i tend to want to play games that arent released in english like super robot wars)
The big question isnt whether these other servers will die, but who will pick up the game in english. Despite how this will make me look, i want ogplanet to grab it so i can have my 2 favorite mmos under one launcher.

Not sure if this has already been said but in response to the original poster, that would not stop them from releasing an english version if they were planning to. They would not lose players if that happened and if those servers did become unpopulated they would likely merge them or kill them.

Servers don't have to be language exclusive, either.

They don't have to be language exclusive, but try telling wasabii that. Multiple users in the past have explained over and over how they should make an official english patch but they only came up with the response "this game is for Taiwan so the language must be in chinese".

They are certainly happy to take our money because even though they said this game is in chinese they are happy to advertise in the game IN ENGLISH to buy cashpoints with paypal.

Well personally I think they won't bother translating everything to english officially until the game is 'finished', if you know what I mean.

MMOs are never "finished", they always have to keep players atracted to the game with new stuffs or the game shut down

I know that, but DBO doesn't seem to even be at release standard yet. Like there's a lot of stuff missing that should have been there at the beginning such as the extra classes. A lot of stock sound effects. The updates tend to always be major, like adding new gameplay elements such as flight or new zones. Normally new zones and such are added in expansion packs not just regular updates.

From my perspective it's more like an open beta. Like they're still building the game up, just letting us play it while that happens. I feel like when the core storyline reaches some kind of conclusion and the game feels more 'complete', they might westernize it and release an official english translation, as well as make it easy to download and pay for, for english speakers, etc.

Then of course, absolutely they'll continue to update and work on new content as you'd expect from an active MMO, but I don't even feel like the basic foundation of the game is 'finished' yet. I suppose 'finished' is a bad word to use here, but hopefully you get what I mean.

Yeah I agree, but when you think about it when would DBO ever get to the point of them releasing the game outside KR/TW/HK? It took them about 7 to 8 months time to add level 60 - 70 patch in the game, and with the rate of how slow it is taking them to update and add in new content this game will hit the dust when it comes to MMOs. I don't see this game staying alive for 3 more years with the path NTL are taking. They really have to change something because DBO is losing players everyday instead of bringing in and attracting new people. Usually they have a server merge but that is only a short term fix and not a long term solution.

For me and many other players out there, adding in a new map, level cap, gear and TMQ/dungeons is not going to cut it. Last "big" patch they were extremely lazy. Instead of adding in new skills they choose to mirror other classes skills/passives which was pretty pathetic.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention with the 7 - 8 months it took them to release the patch they do a half ass job by not even releasing the full map with dungeons/TMQs.

Well I won't judge their tactics but I have faith that they'll try and keep it going as long as they can. I don't want to think about it dying. :C
