Men try to bang as many women as possible as soon as possible. Women try to find only 1 man that can protect them and their offspring. When our species was figuring out how to reproduce(evolutionarily speaking), this is what they came up with. This is how it's been our entire existence.
If we were still savages chasing buffalo across the plains who rarely lived to see 40, I'd probably be laughing at any male who has hit puberty and is still a virgin. However, since that is not the case, I don't see a problem with savoring other aspects of life first.
