It's there from before the ignore feature. We honestly should remove that report button and add the ignore user option in it's place.

if you press report post, it emails the mods who can then remove the post etc doesn't it? if thats right then choosing to ignore someone isn't as effective as reporting post?

Yeah, and certain people shouldn't be able to just get away with flaming by not posting it in the public boards.

He is referring to wall posts, which moderators can't do anything about.

ahhhh you can self moderate your wall boards but yeah i do agree with you now i understand, you should be able to report flames on your private wall

We want to encourage the ignore feature. Cause if people can't see those they hate, we will have less arguments overall.

If it became an issue where even after the user is ignored the flames persisted, Then we would intervene.

We want to leave members the ability to moderate their own walls, since that is a place for discussion among friends.

Users have the ability to moderate their own wall. They can also ignore users. This is the reason why moderators don't do much about wall posts. Seeing as users are already mods of their own walls, there really isn't an issue.
The only time we really do something about wall posts is if it's continuous flames/spams.
