So this is apparently a fairly old story but it's one I'm just now getting into. According to
this place Justin Carter (age 18 at the time residing in TX) was arrested for a post made on his facebook. According to his father, Justin and a friend were in an argument with someone over LoL. His father says "Someone had said something to the effect of 'Oh you're insane, you're crazy, you're messed up in the head,’ to which he replied 'Oh yeah, I'm real messed up in the head, I'm going to go shoot up a school full of kids and eat their still, beating hearts,’ and the next two lines were lol and jk.,".
Now granted that's not a funny statement at all. In fact...it is actually fairly disturbing. But for fuck's sake, this is the internet. If someone were to take even 10% of the things that have been said over the internet seriously then pretty anyone with internet access would be jailed (and those in jail with internet access would be doubly screwed). I agree with the police that "Hey,
maybe this is worth checking into!" however they did it like a bunch of idiots. Instead of actually ya know....respecting 1st & 4th amendment rights and doing things the way that would make sense, they just busted in and arrested the kid. They didn't even bother searching the home until a week
after the arrest. Now maybe I just have a weird sense of logic, but it seems to me that the homes of those deemed "terrorist threats" should be searched like...while you're there. Ya know, that way there's no chance of any of their "terrorist buddies" coming by and taking all their "terrorist equipment" for diabolical plans and whatnot. The search that they conducted didn't yield any results as far as weapons ago, but they did make one key discovery that they just
had to seize: his computer. Oh man, a gamer that has a computer? This is some WW3 srsbsns stuff right here.
As for this noble citizen that alerted the police to this "terrorist threat"? She lives in Canada. According to Justin's father "the woman did a Google search and found his son’s old address was near an elementary school and she called police. Yeah. She
tracked down this guy all the way from Canada and decided to alert TX police. Funny thing: he doesn't live there anymore. The address that she gave police actually belonged to Justin's parents. This woman solicited a man who was not the suspect in order to give police the juicy info on this "terrorist", and yet she's coming out of this the hero.
I'm not saying that this kid is by any means the good guy or completely innocent. In terms of "things I can say to get back at someone for calling me insane", what he chose to reply with ranks pretty high on the

list. That being said, the search of his apartment yielding no results for any form of weapon or other sort of dangerous equipment should've been enough to acquit him of the charges of "making a terrorist threat". Granted you could charge him for being a moron and "making an idiotic statement", but not making a terrorist threat.
For any that have read this far and may be wondering how said suspect is doing,
here's an update.

He's on suicide watch. To keep things slightly PG13, he's just had the hell beaten out of him. You can kind of guess what all has actually happened to this kid though.
If we're going strictly from before he was imprisoned, even with that idiotic statement that he made I wouldn't have worried too much that this kid was going to shoot up a school. That being said, he's now been imprisoned for a crime and has probably been
buddies with most of the inmates where he's currently being incarcerated. I actually would begin to worry once this kid gets out mainly due to the effect that prison has on people, and I'd be utterly ashamed of TX authorities if they didn't request therapy for him if he's released soon. Though I really feel that they should track down that woman from Canada and make her pay for all of his sessions.
