For a couple years now I've been putting up with an issue every night. I've just closed my eyes, about to fall asleep when suddenly I can feel my mattress depress. Sometimes it feels like my mattress is breathing, other times it feels like someone or something has crawled into bed with me. Kinda creepy but nothing else out of the ordinary is happening so it can't be ghosts(lol). After all this time though, would be nice to have an explanation.

Nah, my side effect of when my body slows down to go to sleep is shallow, sometimes no breathing. Sleep apnea's a ***** :/

Eh, you're just feeling a breeze, or something.

It's definitely not a breeze. Doesn't feel like air. It feels like what it feels like if someone sits on the couch next to you.

Then it's probably just the springs giving in or settling. I am pretty sure it's something like that, so don't worry about it.

Though it could also be something else, which is also harmless. When there's silence, our brain makes up noises to fill the gaps (that beep you keep hearing). Same thing with your vision, which explains those dots you see in the darkness. Perhaps, the same thing applies to touch?

Paranoia can have those effects on you, aswell. Simply making you pay a bit too much attention to things that are normal and have a very logical explanation. But since, at the moment, you can't really understand why, it's making you believe that it's something to be scared or worried about. A slight noise from your house settling in, a tiny shadow cast by something outside your window, even the feel of your bed sheets or matress moving, simply due to physics. All these things happen to everyone and some can even be a figment of your imagination (which can happen mostly during that time span when you're in the process of zoning out and falling asleep), or just simple logical things, like I previously explained, that you pay too much attention to, due to paranoia. In other words, overreacting.

But, well... if you WANT to be scared, click the spoiler box below.
But if you don't, then don't do it. Don't click it. lol

Either way, like I said, I'm sure it's nothing.

Not really scared of it. I'm sure it does have a logical explanation, I just don't know what that explanation is. It's a burning question and my curiosity won't be satisfied until I find out what.

Well, you have my explanations. If you think it's something else, good luck on your quest.

It's funny you should mention that. At my family home, I get the same thing. Especialy if I leave my door open at night, it feels like someone sitting on my bed or staring at my the whole time.

LOL my mom thinks the house is haunted, since it's very very old.

@Claire I've had sleep paralysis quite a few times not nice and very creepy.
