So I got board with DBO and plan on taking a break until they increase the cap again, but Im glad that this game exist because it introduced me to the wonderful world of MMORPG. Although I consider myself a hardcore gamer I was always a little sceptical when it came to MMORPGs because Im not generally concerned with online interaction and competing with others, not to be a dick, I just perfer the singular aspect of games. Stuff like playing through a captivating storyline, being the hero, setting and accomplishing your own personal goals as well as those presented by the game itself. These things truley bring me enjoyment. Even so I am still a huge fan of co-op but I prefer to play with someone sitting in the same room on the same console (I guess Im old fashioned). MMO never really appealed because I thought there was an absence off these things but being a hardcore DBZ fan I had to try DBO so I did and now I see how wrong I was about MMORPGs. They are freaking awesome. But being the gamer I am it seems Ive done everything in DBO that I want to do, so to fill the MMO void in my life I decided to give Star Wars The Old Republic a try. But the thing is, the man reason i was able to get into DBO was my love for the source material. But as for Star wars I am not a fan. I have never seen a single film in its entirety. Everytime a SW film comes on tv I get upset and avoid that channel for the rest of the day. But now I want to play a Star Wars MMO but I wouldnt feel right getting invested in this game when I havent even seen one movie. I mean could you imagine running into a person on DBO who has never seen a single episode of DBZ or even read a single manga let alone actually somewhat despise DBZ. I would feel that person shouldnt be allowed to play DBO. So I cant in my right mind play SWTOR without watching every movie first. Thats just who I am. I am going to make myself a Star Wars fan if it kills me.
Now that you have the backstory lets get to the actual topic of this thread. What is the best way to watch the films. In other words what is the best order. Keep in mind I have done some research on this and I have found that I dont wish to watch them in order of release (original trilogy followed by the prequals). I know a lot of people feel this is the way to go as to not ruin any plot twist but you have to understand that even though I have never seen a single movie, SW is so emersed in pop culture that it is almost impossible to go your whole life without knowing who Darth Vader is and the fact the he is Luke Skywalker's father. I have learned so much of the major plot points of SW and so many of the characters are recognizable to me that you wouldnt know I had not seen the movies unless i told you or you started grilling me with some die hard trivia. So the main reason for watching this way does not really apply to me because pop culture has already ruined most of the surprises anyway. I was strongly considering watching them in order of episode(I-VI) but im not truley set on it so i was wondering what you guys think especially those of you who are true Star Wars fans. Let me know what you feel is best. And also keep in mind that I do not plan to omit any of the films so no matter what you say I will watch the prequals (even episode 1) no matter how bad you think they are. After all I once suspected all the SW films to be bad (I once thought the same of MMORPGs and was proven wrong) so if Im going to give any of them a try I might as well watch all of them. someone sugested watching episode 4 and 5 first then watch the 3 prequals as a flashback then watch episode 6 last. im also considering this method but have not made a decision
