Actually, your character spits up an egg, the same way as Piccolo Daimao, when that happens. It hatches into a demon that works a bit like a pet. I honestly think it's pretty interesting it was added into the game.
Yeah, that'd make sense. It also makes me wonder if there's any backlash to your character from having the demon die. Piccolo Daimao seemed pretty distressed when Tambourine and Cymbal died, though not for Drum or Piano. I'd assume that had something to do with his age, though.
