One of my friends want me to go to an anime con with him in a few months. I've never gone to one, and know little of any anime besides mainstream ones and adult swim ones. He says that usually people dress as anime characters for these things. Looking at my avatar and signature, is there any anime character or japanese videogame character that I look like at all that I should consider being for this. Im kinda at a loss.

Ive got wide shoulders, a large chest (wink wink) and im pretty bulky & muscular. I can straighten my hair. My skin is a normal white tone, if not a little pale. I have a lip ring, but Im willing to just pretend I dont have one.

Ive gotten Snow from Final Fantasy 13, but his hair is definately shorter, and straight, and if I straighten it Itl look even longer. I think the only reason I got Snow is because I always wear a black beanie and the person who recommended it sees me in it.

SSJ 3 goku. I say you should try to pull that off haha, since you do have the long blonde hair for it, thats already something for the cosplay you would have crossed off your list.

That kinda crossed my mind. Only thing is, if I recall, SSJ3 has no eyebrows, and mine are like a brownish and pretty thick(no way Im gonna shave em off :]). I know no matter who I pick, therel be differences in me and the character. On the other hand, if I could manage to pul it off, I'd be extremely happy with myself, but it'd take exact corrections and planning to come out right. Im definately keeping that option open.


Maybe I could pull Ed off with some gel. When I go ponytail, my hair ends up looking alot like Ed's dad, but maybe gel could get me those anime sagging horn looking things(not just gel, straightening too). I'd need someone to braid my hair that way, but I know plenty of people who could do that for me. Thanks, Im adding that to the list :]

Or, you know, I could just be Ed's dad too. I dont know if I like that better than Ed himself though. I dont know if people would get it if I was his dad. I could just not shave for a lil and get those glasses and pull my hair back, cuz it looks like his hair when I just pull it back for work without doing anything special. I'll probably keep Hohenheim (googled his name, was tired of saying "Eds Dad") as a lazy option, or sort of last resort.

Well with all good cosplays, it depends on the time and how much money you spend on it. I think if you spent enough time and money, you could probably pull off SSJ 3 goku. Trust me, I've been to one of these conventions before and you will probably see some people there and be like "OMG that person there looks NOTHING like tifa from final fantasy" ...yeah the amount of tifas I saw at the last anime convention was crazy, half of them were nothing compared to tifa and they also had a big tummy, so it wasnt a good sight at all.

but as for the original question, i think with the glasses and hair back, and maybe if you could find it, an outfit like his, you could pull off Hohenheim pretty easy.

I never got why people freak out over Tifa. My favorite game ever is FF7, and I have 0% attraction to Tifa, and every cartoon character for that matter. I never got how someone could want to screw a cartoon. I imagine that's the reason there were so many Tifas, so that they could try to appear attractive. That whole situation kinda gives me a little more confidence with SSJ3 Goku, thanks :]


Yeah, Im confident that I could pull him off, but who would recognize me as him? Im not gonna rule him out though, Im still keeping him as an option.

I went to comiccon 2010 NY which was also animecon i guess mixed into one event and the only thing that pissed me off was people tried to hard to look like a certain Main character. Instead of picking a character you kinda look like.


For example i have jet black hair im not going to try and look like naruto id try for sasuke (just an example i cant pull of sasuke but you see where im going with it)

if you can 99% look like Hoienhim (not googlein his name for proper spelling) id go for it. People who do recognize you will be plenty more impressed also you might get into a photo to promote the convention for next year.

I never looked at it like that, but you make a staggering amount of sense. You pretty much brought Hohenheim to the top of my list (I had to google him to even get his name so I could stop saying "Ed's Dad" so you did better w/ spelling than me).
I'm not set on Hohenheim 100% though, and I'm still looking for suggestions, as I'm not as educated in the anime world as most DBZ fans (or internet people for that matter).
From now on I'm going to set my sights on likeness and not recognizability, thanks to Jax.

EDIT: The only reason Im not stopping at Hohenheim, is because I have a different face shape than him. His jawline is much more masculine than mine, and various other noticable features contrast. I know that theres probably no anime character out there that looks 100% like me, but I'm going to keep looking for one until I have no time left, and I'm going to keep the most similar one to me at the top of the list (currently Hohenheim :]).

EDIT2: On 2nd thought, I think his thick beard made his jaw look huge. I saw a picture of him with a smaller beard and he has a kind of long face like mine :]. Points for Hohenheim :D. But that nose...
