I didn't go. I'm not allowed to conventions. I'm not allowed in New York either.

I wish I could have gotten you to bring me back the TFP figures of Arcee and Bumblebee, though. ;) That pink redeco looks pretty nice, even though I prefer the blue color scheme we see in the show...

Did you commit some crime why you can't go? (Secret life we don't know about lol). I wish I had money to buy stuff there, like that Vegeta figure that was there behind us somewhere. I got the tickets for half off from this guy.All the money I saved I used towards food and transportation. It was cool, I missed Christopher Sabat, but I think meeting Schemmel was good enough to make my day. Now I'm off my nerd grind for a while.

I wanted to know if anyone else was there, I got there late on Saturday, so I don't know or missed all of the craziness that made this Comic Con good, aside from the smell of nerds not showering in two days...mixed with popcorn.

No, my parents think that I shouldn't go to conventions because they don't want me to grow up and be a nerd living in their basement... even though I will inevitably grow up to be a nerd, but likely living in my own basement.

I wish I had money to buy those Transformers on eBay... but convention exclusives are always top dollar, and more than they're probably worth.

Yeah I know. Everything there was expensive. But I doubt my parents would want me ordering "toys" on eBay. I put that in quotes because that's exactly what they would call them.

I would have gone if I had the money haha. Too bad I live in a different hemisphere :( One day I would like to go to america when comic con is on because I wouldnt mind checking out the awesomeness I am missing out on. I would have been pretty interested as playing as phoenix wright in Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 and also checking out all the awesome merchandise they had there

Oh, mine don't like it either. They just put up with it because they recognize that I should have the right to spend my money how I want, so long as I don't do anything illegal with it. If I buy toys, that's fine them.

And there's nothing wrong with calling them toys. Most people who collect toys are generally modest enough to simply call them toys.

Yes, but most people associate toys to be childish. I had a big clean out of my room the other day, and pretty much put all my collectables in boxes because it is annoying when people who come into my room judge you for being childish. The only thing I have in my room now is manga.

Collecting toys is serious business my friend. I don't let people into my house who aren't close friends, and they're all well familiar with my hobbies. Besides, lots of people collect toys, to the point where it's kind of scary. Even if they're old-timey dolls and such, a toy is a toy. A hobby is a hobby, you know? I'd rather keep my small but growing collection of Transformers on my boookshelf. It's not something I'm ashamed of like you are.

I also find it somewhat ironic that you got rid of all of the childish things in your room yet you kept the manga. How is manga not childish? The target demographic for most shonen series is younger kids. Most younger kids in America just don't buy manga, or comic books for that matter. It actually makes me kind of sad that comic books aren't for kids anymore. It's a geek thing now. I mean, sure we can get away with more violence and less censorship, which older fans like, get it printed on better quality paper since adult collectors are buying it, but it actually feels kind of awkward walking into a comic book store because I'm not a 20+ something geek. But in Japan, manga is more so for kids than comics are here in America.

Also, regarding comic Comic Con... does anyone find the name somewhat ironic? I mean, half the stuff there doesn't even pertain to comics anymore. It's just a collection of geek culture in general.

Yes, I do agree that collecting toys is serious business to some people like you and me, but the thing is I just dont like it when I have people come into my room unexpected and judge me for being childish. Its just more of a personal thing of why I changed my room. Dont get me wrong, I still have my goku figurine doing a kamehameha stance, my black cat wall scroll and my bleach posters in my room, just I have taken out the main anime plushies out of my room as that would always be the main attraction that people would comment on.

I kept my manga on my shelf because even though the target audience are children, to some people they see a japanese graphic novel as just a regular book. People see the manga on my shelf and wont even notice it. I know, it is my room and I should have it how ever I want, but believe me there are some stupid people in this world that will judge you for being yourself, and they will always think behind your back that you and i quote "never grew up".

I guess they kept the title comic con as it originated as a comic book convention which branched out to other pop culture such as anime and video games. They probably didnt change the name since comic con already had built up quite a reputation for itself. Another reason could be (I am only generalizing here) is that most people that are into comic books are probably into anime and video games.
