All the source I found say USA was the first, but there was an arms race to see who could develop it first. This is usually the case as enemies are always trying to surpass each other with technology in weapons. |

You guys are dumb "America is screwed" the reason why we don't just nuke our enemies and wipe 'em out is because when the first missile is launched all other countries will launch and target their enemies so we have nukes from USA, UK, Russia, North Korea, Germany etc etc and that's why it's the end of the world

Oh yeah definitely the first, but if I'm not mistaken it was mostly the Germans who were looking for Superweapons, and therefore spurred America to make its own investigations into quicker ways to end the war. They had many of the top engineers and scientists, and here we are in America hearing they are working on super weapons capable of destroying entire populations of people.
