I kind of agree with Kiyza. I usually don't like the main characters. Just because i don't like it when a manga has a group of characters, which all have the same cause (more or less). Yet one character becomes so much better than the others that the secondary characters get overshadowed.
This is the issue with Naruto and Sasuke. They have grown so stupidly powerful that secondary characters like Neji, Rock leee, Gara, TenTen and Kiba get completely overshadowed to the point they because almost irrelevant in the story.
That’s part of my issue with Ichigo in bleach, Luffy in OP and Saiyans in DBZ. There good characters but grow far to fast.

Omg, I've gotten in this conversation before with my friends! This is pretty interesting. =D
I'm normally on the other side of the debate though.
Yeah, the main character becomes stronger than the secondary characters.
Isn't that why they're
secondary characters?
If they were stronger/more interesting than Naruto,
wouldn't the show be about them instead?
I can't for the life of me think of a shonen anime where the main character is weak/not special.
(Not that I'm claiming to have seen
every anime =P).
And as for growing far to fast.. both Naruto and One Piece had a 2 year break
(in the series, not real life) were everyone left to get stronger. That doesn't seem very fast.
I could not handle these manga slowing down. xD I want to live to see the end of it!
(Also, I'm really not trying to be rude or start a fight or trash other people's opinions!
I just like talking about these things for some reason =D)

Oh, sorry if I'm grave digging >.> I didn't notice this thread was 2 weeks old until now.
