At least let Tenshinhan be Tenshinhan, not Tien xD

The problem with FUNI names is that some are terribly wrong, like Tien Shinhan, Tri-Beam or Special Beam Cannon (mainly the latter two).
I don't have a problem with Krillin (it's an acceptable romanization of the original Kuririn - the sound of R and L in Japanese is the same, I believe) or even Frieza (there's actually Japanese merchandise that use this term). It's the wrong translations I'm against. In case of the three examples I gave in the beggining of the post, the correct names would be Tenshinhan, Kikoho and Makankosappo.

EDIT: Or we can could change the names after the patch is released, essentialy making a second version with the Japanese naming. Probably the best option.

Hi, everyone. I'm DBKHD, a member of Kanzenshuu forums (formely Daizenshuu EX). I would like to say something about this English patches that you released for DBO. I really can't help but wonder why you would choose to go with the Funimation dub terms for this game, or so I've heard. While dub terms are probably the most familiar with the English fans of the franchise, they are not how they were named. Toriyama created the terms, not Funimation, so the original should be kept intact. They are how it was meant to be using.

Honestly, this was the best opportunity to expose the fans with the original names, globalize them. A character named Freeza is not called Frieza. Neither does Krillin. It's Kuririn. The list goes on. That's why Funimation currently went to the correct route using the correct terms. An example of this would be they changed from Special beam cannon to Makankosappo.

Anyway, the whole point of this is that you had an opportunity to expose them of the original intent as the whole Dragon Ball franchise itself. We have come a long way from the horrible era of Funimation from 1999 to golden era we are currently enjoying. Last thing we need is a seperated fandom. Dragon Ball Kai has certainly helped sew us back together somewhat, and we thank them for that. And we hope to continue to bloom as a Dragon Ball fandom.

Incognito much?

Anyway, I'm sadly surprised at how that poll went. I'm a little disturbed that people would prefer the mistakes Funi made when they first began as a production company in the name of nostalgia over, you know, the names and terms the author and artist actually gave them. It's even more peculiar when Toriyama being involved in the project makes the game more connected to the manga than the Anime, so I don't see how Funi failures should even come into play.

Finally, I think it's just plain wrong there was a post referring to all the purists as "weabos" who shouldn't have a say at all. Excuse me? Without the die hards who watched and enjoyed the series as it was originally intended, Funimation would have never picked it up.

One version not gonna make everyone happy.. A wants FUNi, B wants original..
Just make two versions, it's not THAT much of extra work to do, but everyone will have a chance to pick what they want..

I would prefer the japanese names over the funimation ones, the poll was only open for such a short amount of time, i was at work so i didnt even get to see the poll nor get a chance to vote either

In the poll thread, I'm a little surprised you'd even call us "Kanzenshuu weaboos". Are you even restorting to the name calling? It's unnecessary. Just to show you are being elitists.

I'm just going to clarify this. The goal of Kanzenshuu is to globalize the Japanese terminology as it was presented in Viz manga. They are much closer to the original Japanese version and therefore should be using them. Funimation back then wasn't a good company back then. Sean Schemmel even went as far as saying that the old Funimation dub was terrible. That's why we have Dragon Ball Kai in the first place- to provide the accurate script as close as possible while remaining faithful to the Japanese version. It's something sub and dub fans have enjoyed.

Kanzenshuu is a wonderful website with good intentions. I sure am glad to be a part of that community, mainly because we respect Dragon Ball just as much and want to stick close to the Japanese version as possible, because that's the version that can be enjoyed by everyone in the world. The Kanzenshuu users are not the only one living in America. They also live in different countries, such as Mexico, Portugual, France, and even Japan.

If the translated English version of Japanese is released, we'd greatly appreciate that.

Guys does Funi or Japanese names really matter in a game like this? Wether it says frieza or freeza is such an insignificant thing you guys are getting worked up about for nothing. Either names should be fine, its very easy to tell what is being talked about. If I'm playing a dark warrior and it says special beam cannon instead of the Japanese name for it... It really doesn't matter at all. Let's just get this **** translated into words we can understand so we can all enjoy a game and knows what is going on
