You guys said it's 'coming soon, 2014' but I've heard rumors that someone on your team said it's pushed back? It's cool if it is, I just wanna know around when we can expect to play. When you said 'coming soon, 2014' it made it sound like it was a couple months away. I understand what you guys are doing is a BIG task, but please don't play with my emotions :( lol

In the last A.M.A. it was said we are trying as hard as we can to finish the servers on 2014.
People, as negative as they can be (completely understandable),take this as "I knew it, it's not comming out on 2014"
But to be fair, yes, the reason it takes so long is because our devs are writing all the code themselves from scratch, we ain't using NTL stuff as Dumke said

I believe people are forgetting, that dragonball online, is still a dragonball franchise.
That means, Akira toriyama, Bandai(and all subsidiaries), Shueisha, and most likely any other Dragonball License holder
Can still bring can take down, either server hosts or possibly anything else, so deem to choose.
It's a one of a kind game aswell, there has not been a single dragonball mmorpg, like this before.
So if this goes, anywhere near their radar, it could be potentially fatal.
That's why i try my absolute best to not cross any lines.

Finally... Someone who has a brain! Thats exacly what im saying all the time... "new code from scratch" doesn't mean anything! Still no Dragonball licence! -> Big chance for "take down"!
Good luck to all devs anyway..

It actually means quite alot.
Considering, we're not actually touching anything copyrighted, when it comes to our code, all our code is intellectual property of us.
The only thing that gets us, is what it connects too.
Sure they can take us down, if they really wanted, but it would be something completely different from the code.

I also want to clarify a little bit more on what dumke said. Even if the code are made from the DBOR team. BIRD STUDIO/ SHUEISHA, TOEI ANIMATION, or Funimation can still take down anything that they don't approve of.
A great example would be a game community called Byond, Where you can create your own online game with the Byond platform and publish on their site. Fan use this to create games like Dragonball,Naruto,Fairy etc. Basically they can create any type of game they want with the engine. Anime fan made use of this and created anime fan games for other fans to play. Then some seek out to make money from it. Buying perks and subscription, also the website itself byond made profit of the games. Cause you need to be a premium member to have the game listed on the main site. Even though none of these game brought in big player base. Funimation went after the website and all the copyrighted game. They were all taken down, and strict rules was put in to where they cannot use Copyrighted pixel to create their game. So they made their own pixel but the game name is still license so it was taken down again. Finally the user decided to make a rip off name with bunch of rip off pixel making slight change. Only then it was acceptable.
Sadly this lost the site popularity, because without the brand name. It's hard to find these fan made games.
Basically if they want to take DBOR or DBORZ down whomever is going to host it in the future. They can "Try" to do it. If it generate a lot of income or get a bit of attention i'm sure they will "Try" to take it down.
SO GOOD Luck to everyone.

Streets of rage remake taught us... "franchice licence" > "new code"! If you change all content that points to DB and rename the game you will be fine...
Well, lets wait and see what happens...

I think the reason that one Byond DBZ game(Dragon Universe it's called now) had to change some of it's pixel art was because the creator wanted to profit off the game, but Byond won't allow any game to make money if they use copyrighted material. I don't think the owners of DBZ threatened them.

I can see how you have that misconception though sadly it is true. The Copyright holders for the anime titles came after Byond. Then Byond was force to enforce the rules of taking out anime titles.
It actually went step by step, First they removed it from listing. Though they created a page for rejected listing. So games can still be found on their site with anime title on homepage. Though that was shortly removed aswell.
in short, Copyright Holder Threaten Byond > Byond Threaten User > User had to make changes to their game or just quit.

My mistake. But I'm guessing they were profiting off of it since it had ads, that's probably why they went after them. They never said they were a non-profit organization. With that being said, I don't think it would be such a big deal if DBOR used the original DBO source, since they're using copyrighted characters anyway. As long as they're non-profit and let users know they're non-profit. But I haven't done enough research on the matter, so what do I know.
If DBOR was ever shutdown, there would be a huge uproar because the whole Dragon ball community has been talking about it for a long time, and just want the game back. The original DBO doesn't even exist anymore anyways. Funimation helped out Team Four Star with their copyright problems and even did guest appearances, so it probably won't be an issue.
