You feel high when you have imagination.

On topic though I have watched avatar and did mildly enjoy it. The plot was good but I didn't enjoy the comedy most of the time. I did make a point to watch the series to the end but only because I was already far enough in to want to see it end(same way I currently feel about naruto and bleach).

I don't know a better word to describe the humor in avatar besides childish, even though that isn't a good word to describe it just the best I can think off. The humor was often out of place and just bothered me, there would be some serious issue and someone would make a fool of themselves and everyone would laugh like they weren't just almost killed three minutes ago.

Although anime I like also has this flaw such as one piece, they are almost all killed and next minute fluffy says something stupid that makes you laugh. I think why I prefer this is because instead of the whole cast laughing with him you have people yelling at fluffy for not taking things seriously and actually gives better sense of emotion from each individual character.

Fluffy = Luffy with my auto correct.

I think it might be a matter of what you're reading there. I actually prefer a comic format to an animated one because I can appreciate the artwork better. If you've never gotten the "wow aspect" from some of the artwork, I think you're probably just reading the wrong series, like some of the below:

Some examples of good artwork:

In at least most of those cases, it'd be difficult to translate to animated form because of how it's laid out. There's too much detail in Moebius's artwork for any animator to properly copy something like that. Jack Kirby's image here is just plain impossible to copy for animation because of the intricate layout. You'd have to break it down scene by scene and in doing so, you'd lose a lot of the effect. Starlin's work would similarly suffer by becoming animation because you can't copy the intricate parallelism across the page if you broke it into animated form.

But I digress.
