3 things may cause this problem. first 2 already have been listed.
Third could be your hard drive problem. I haven't figured out why yet (probably because I havent been really looking) but i noticed that the game can somehow take up 100% of HDD usage. Defragment your HDD, make your virtual memory take up less space, clean HDD with CCleaner or something simillar. Now that I think about it, the english patch may be the cause, because its not a real in game english, but every time you open a quest or a weapon or anything, it reads through the translation.txt file... just a thought, it maybe helps
