First of all these 2 events have nothing to do with each other also it is not rascist . Black pete become black cus going up and down the chimney . But apparently black people in america and some other countrys want the netherlands remove this event . But hey do know nothin about this dutch traditionally event so better read facts and all before saying bull**** ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋIt's not very nice to accuse people of being racist if you don't even know what you're talking about. I'm Dutch, so I know what I'm talking about...The Dutch 'Sinterklaas' has absolutely nothing to do with Christmas. This holiday ends on 5 December. We, like you, celebrate Christmas on 25 and 26 December. The Santaclaus that you know in America also appears here and is called 'kerstman', literally 'christmasman'. Also, the 'zwarte pieten', or 'black petes' that cause you to call us racist are not Africans. The story for the kids here is that Sinterklaas comes from Spain. He and the Zwarte Pieten come to Holland every year to bring presents to the children. The children place there shoes at the fireplace. Zwarte Piet will come down the chimney (which is why they are black) to put gifts in the childrens' shoes. Please do not call anyone racist again when you haven't done proper researchㅎㅎㅋ

The problem is that people today are too sensitive. I say people as opposed to "Americans, Europeans, Asians" or any sort of specific nationality because it's not simply contained to one nation. The majority of the population of our little planet is so sensitive to every little thing that people say or do, that they'll take even the slightest chance to get offended over something. It's really kind of sad.

Fun fact; your Sinterklaas is derived from the same person that all of the traditional winter holiday figures are: Saint Nicholas. Kinda cool to see how everyone took their inspiration from a single source and then adapted it to their culture.

I imagine most black people don't even know about this.

I imagine when malu said that bit about people from America and other countries crying about it, they meant people who were touring at that time. I'd personally never even heard of the holiday before today, and given that we live in a generation of self-inflicted ADD I doubt many would until they were directly told about it.
