Model extraction

Hey guys.

I have never posted here since I didn't have anything interesting to say or show.

So, as we all know, today, DBO has died. But I don't wanna see my character dying with the server so I started something to solve this. Some months ago, I unpacked the game to gain access to all models and I noticed DBO used a DFF format.

Today I finally made it. I've been able to export this DFF model to OBJ and mount my character.

I'll post new on monday if I have time to work on my model but actually, that's the only thing I've made:

Big thanks to Xentax and the DFF extractor. I got the program here:

Please do if they don't have this

LinkvsSangoku November 2nd, 2013 08:42 AM

Hahaha, yeah with my idea :3

Jocer, i posted this tool in the DBOPS thread a tiiiiime ago.

So Keizh, you didn't find how to create the world, just search after one request from me, and one member from xentax do that.

Yeah! I suposed you were from DBOcom too.

What do you mean by "create te world". Having a tool like this I can create new maps, yes. I use to do some 3d design in my free time.

I've been working with the extractor all this weekend using 3D Studio. I have made 2 versions of my character (normal and ssj), extracted some dogis and accesories. Today I'll start to try the weapon extraction and I have almost located and separated all textures of the game. The problem I'm having actually is that some DFF cannot be extracted and imported to 3D Studio. I need to give a try with Blender or Maya.

There should be a plugin for Noesis or something like that. I've been trying to open the DFF files since 2 years! They use the same format like some PS3 games and GTA San Andreas.

I modded DBO since it was a beta in Korea, lol. But I have always wanted to pick my character and make some render or... ehem... Play with him in Grand theft auto, for example. Pics for monday or tuesday, sorry. I cannot upload them from here. I'm not at home at the moment.

Re: Model extraction

It would be amazing if someone could figure out how to fix/ add some animations in the game

Keizh November 5th, 2013 09:36 AM

Did not try anims but It's possible. You just have to pick an unpacked game, extract the anim, change it and repack the game. Anyaway you can swap them using txt.

By the way, as I promised, here is my actual work:

- Actual renders and my character version 1 and 2:
http://i43.tinypic.com/15804nn.png
http://i42.tinypic.com/29aprip.png

Another render:

http://i42.tinypic.com/ip62de.png

And some sticks I ripped:

http://i42.tinypic.com/669f2f.png

I have gloves too but only 3 or 4 models. Most of them cannot be extracted (in 3DS at least). Same with dogis. I have only opened Goku's model, some dogis and one scouter.

But most important to me is that the character had 2 bad points. First is that is not rigged (I'm solving this) and the other was a backface cut. I ported the character to GTA San Andreas and the results were these:

http://i42.tinypic.com/2gxn0bd.png

Buuuh... Backface cut too in the game. But there's a way to change this bug in 3D Studio. Just click on modifier -> Mesh Editing -> View Normal then click at right side of windows in flip normals turning it ON.

The result will be:

http://i41.tinypic.com/2nut55i.png

As you see, the rigging is HORRIBLE. I just made it quick to make tests. Good version is coming this week.

And that's all for now.

Thank you!

Wow this looks great, love the new sticks

Re: Model extraction

Very interesting. Would love to see your character placed in a game more suited the art style though. such as dragonquest or any dbz game.

Re: Model extraction

Hmmm, I don't think that's possible. 3d models can be exported to Dissidia 012 for PSP and you need the emulator. But I have never seen model's swap for these games. Fly for Fun is another game that allow mods like this but it takes more than 4 hours to swap (if you are skilled and you already know the process).

I'm still looking for more dogis that can be extracted. NPC Goku works, Yamcha dogi works, same for Pie Pie t-shirt dogi. I tried to export Miira and Time Machine but it's not posible.

Yes? That's cool then! Could you show me some models. I'm trying to export the Pie Pie dogi (hls_cos_409_h_m.dff) but I only got the chest. To finish it, I'll fuse the chest with Kame Sennin shorts + Raging Blast 2 C17's shooes re-textureds.

How do you export the models?

Keizh November 7th, 2013 07:00 PM

Ok. It's done. Arms are almost imposible to rig them correctly.

I made a little video, lol.

Could I say I'm the first DBO player who reach Kami's Lookout?:smile:

cool man. his right arm looks like... he broke it :D and you could try to make such mods for Half-Life mods (I mean Earth Special Forces).

Amazing! This would be simply amazing. Can't wait to see it. I'm not good with coding things like that. Thanks a lot for working with so useful tools.

Good! As more we work in extraction, more mods we'll see. And this will help DBOPS to make new meshs for custom updates.

Haha, yes, yes. ESF was my next point.
About the arms. I made a better rig but it cannot be perfect. Maybe it's because meshes are low poly. It's the 1st time that happens to me. I normally rig arms very quickly. You can have problem with knees or chest but not with arms. It's curious anyway.

GTA San Andreas + Metal Gear Rising MOD v2.2. The ped.ifp is from 2.1 version. Ped.ifp is the file were the standing/walking/running/jumping animation is registered.

The other mods are "mspark" (big wave energy) and the flying mod wich is from chinese forums. It's actually not posible to download it but I can send it to you. No problem. Or anyway you can always download the Iron Man V3 flying mod but it has no "stand in air" animation. a little ugly...

I'm thinking about something... Making a big file with all hairstyles in 3DS format, so you guys will only need to mount you own model selecting the right head mesh and importing it.

Re: Model extraction

One of the points on my list is exporting the models to most common formats that are user friendly :) If I manage to decrypt the rigging info I will consider md5

I extracted a set o swordman weapons:

And (just for fun), I put DBO's moon and changed the katana with a fighter's stick:

Re: Model extraction

Sorry. I said "made" as "I extracted".

They are all from the game.

Dumke November 20th, 2013 10:17 AM

Oh, I interpreted that in another way.

considering there are some that already exist in there.
so i assumed "I've extracted them all, and made a set of weapons"

EDIT:

you explained that i was right, as i was explaining my fault.

It's all good, i understood what you meant in the first place anyways.

Gewku November 23rd, 2013 02:43 AM

from all of the pics ive seen so far your only using the goku hairstyle with grey colour... it is possible to change the colour outfit and hairstyle and all of that right? or is that another extraction or do you have to mix files?

Im hoping the DBOPS Team will be another Unleashed Project Team... except this time its a lot harder... you guys should ask Dario ff for help or advice... he's a Motherfucking master in this kinda shit

No. It's not Goku. It's the no.1 male hairstyle.

And yes. You can modify the textures. For example: The dogi of the video is the guild dogi with new textures and some custom meshes I made to modify it. The belt is from Goku's model in DBO. I made this one custom because actually you can't extract more than 3 or 4 dogis.
